Did you know that the California Legislature wants to certify mediators and arbitrators and make substantial changes to the California Arbitration Act?<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t

The California Dispute Resolution Council, \u201cYour Voice for ADR in Sacramento,\u201d is pleased to invite you to a discussion on this and on the current state of other ADR legislation in California.

The program, which will be presented via Zoom, on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 12 Noon to 2 pm, will include presentations by:

    \u2022 Paul Dubow<\/strong> will talk about the Legislature's attempt to introduce \u201ccertification\u201d legislation.

    \u2022 Jim Madison <\/strong>will fill you in on recent decisions by the California appellate courts, the Ninth Circuit, and the             Supreme Court

    \u2022 Michelle Katz, CDRC President<\/strong>, will present the Donald Weckstein Award to Ron Kelly for his work in           
       creating and monitoring mediation legislation.

Paul Dubow<\/strong> is a full-time arbitrator and mediator practicing in Walnut Creek with emphasis on securities, employment, insurance, franchise, and commercial law matters. He is past president and co-founder of the Mediation Society of San Francisco; a past president of the California Dispute Resolution Council; and a fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n<\/div>\n

Ron Kelly A principal architect of California ADR law, Ron Kelly has initiated and guided enactment of dozens of laws protecting the integrity of mediation and arbitration. These include key sections of the California Evidence, Insurance, Government, and Business and Professions Codes. Ron has been honored with ten major ADR awards in recognition of his work in pioneering the field, including Peacemaker of the Year in California and the American Arbitration Association's Distinguished Service Award. Ron was also awarded Honored Instructor status at Berkeley, where he trained lawyers, judges, and business professionals in mediation for 25 years.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n<\/div>\n
